THE LONG ROAD HOME

The Long Road Home is the sequel to The Road to Uelzen.

For Katharina, her remarkable journey is once again continuing. The temporary refuge she had hoped to find in Liberec, Czechoslovakia is shattered as the Gestapo arrives and she attempts to hide with her daughter from capture. Narrowly escaping, but not without a price, she once again sets out to seek refuge during a time in history where country is pit against country and there is uncertainty who can be trusted.

The war rages on and allies, that are more allies of convenience, position themselves to reap the greatest rewards as the battles continue. The German hierarchy begins to unravel and blame is quickly spread within the upper ranks. Divisions are quickly moved and casualties mount on both sides as one side begins to retreat. The political juggernauts vie to see who can enter Berlin first and who will reap the greatest spoils as the German people once again face a decimation they previously experienced. This time the cost will be too great and impactful as it is aimed at preventing them from ever recovering to a position of greatness again. Through it all the separated Eschmann family fights to survive in the hope to reunite.

For John, his greatest mission is not flying the B-17 that he pilots, but in trying to find the woman he loved and lost realizing that it can only occur if he does all he can to defeat the country to which she belongs. What he discovers will change his life.
