The Sleeping Giant is the Christian Church

Rev. Omar Nelson is a retired Lutheran Pastor. He served parishes in North Dakota and Wisconsin. He also served as Interim pastor for five years at four parishes. Besides Seminary training he has completed four quarters of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and studied Family Systems at Luther Theological Seminary.
After retirement he volunteered with NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. This led to help found the Wellness Shack, a peer run mental health group in Eau Claire, WI. He has been involved as President, Board member and support facilitator since its founding. It was this work that motivated him to write “Awake, Sleeping Giant.”
