Praise for Second Chance

“Second Chance is a fascinating book, a must read for everybody with kidney disease, those caring for patients with kidney disease, medical personnel and also for the general reader. It combines the wisdom of personal experience of Dr. Nathan who had to undergo a kidney transplant and the knowledge that comes from his long medical training and professional expertise as a physician and a cardiologist.”
~ John Najarian, MD, FACS,

Retired Professor and Chairman of Surgery and Clinical Transplantation, University of Minneapolis Medical Center, Author of “The Miracle of Transplantation: The Unique Odyssey of a Pioneer Transplant Surgeon”
~ “Dr. Ravindra Nathan, a cardiologist, has written an interesting and informative memoir about his struggles as a patient with kidney failure. I recommend it for anyone who wants to better understand the patient experience.”
~ Sandeep Jauhar, MD, PhD, Director, Heart Failure Program, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Author of “Doctored” and “Intern” New York Times Contributing Opinion Writer

“M.P Ravindra Nathan’s Second Chance, is a virtuoso’s creative gift to the genre of autobiography from an exemplary chronicler well known for his deeply moving and compelling narrative. This ought to have been formally released in Austria in honor of the three natives from there, whose brilliant contributions to humanity reflect elegantly in the fabric of the central theme in this book: Karl Landsteiner’s discovery of human blood groups set the ground for kidney transplantation; Sigmund Freud’s interpretation of dreams makes its relevance in the initial chapter itself, and the authors’ inimitable tuneful narrative reminds us of The Magic Flute of Wolfgang Mozart.”
~ Dr. M.V. Pillai, President & CEO INCTR (USA), Clinical Professor of Oncology, Thomas Jefferson University

“This is the poignant life story of an acclaimed cardiologist, with as much suspense as any best-seller thriller, and narrated with humility and humor. The style is lucid, theme intimate, educational and with a blend of anxiety, expectancy, and faith. A must-read for all who believe in the frailty of life and how to celebrate in spite of it.”
~ Dr. Venugopal Menon, Allergist-Immunologist and Author of “My Mother called me Unni,” Pearland, Texas

“Endurance of such a prolonged medically eventful quarter century would be unthinkable without your positive outlook and spiritual strength. Your book showcases your keen observation for details, and remarkable sensitivity to human sentiments. Even mundane little events have been infused with so much “prana”(life), that I had to read the whole book at one sitting!”
~ Dr. Ravi Jahagirdar, Past President of American Association of Physicians of India and Past Editor, AAPI Journal
