Can I record my own audiobook or provide my own audio files?
Audible, the leading audiobook retailer, highly discourages
authors from recording their own audiobook unless they are
professional voice actors. For most authors, an experienced
audiobook narrator who understands the requirements of
audiobook production and has access to professional studio
equipment provides the best path to a professional audiobook.
If you are a professional voice actor or already have
professionally produced audiobook files, our Audiobook
Distribution Only services may be a better fit.
How long will it take to complete my audiobook?
The timeframe depends largely on the length of your book,
how long the audition process takes, your narrator's schedule,
and how long it takes you to review your files. In general,
the process takes between 9 weeks and 6 months.
This timeframe includes the time required for distributor
and retailer quality-review processes.
