This is an empathic and compassionate study on what happens when caregivers and professionals come together with a patient for his/her/their end-of-life journey.

It is an encouragement toward thought on how to make this important part of one’s life as meaningful and comfortable as possible, while taking care of each other.

Along with that brief work is a collection of poetry and prose designed to evoke emotions toward healing in the grieving process, developed by the author for funerals, memorial services, staff co-worker gatherings and personal reflection.

These are offered to bring greater understanding of the benefits of hospice care and how to make the most of them, along with words designed to help those who have lost a loved one to find comfort and peace, even in their loss.

Jamie Kaufman has served forty years as an ordained ministry, twenty of which have been spent in hospice chaplaincy and bereavement education and support. Over that time, he has created these teaching tools and reflections expressive of some thoughts and feelings experienced in the grieving process.
