As FREEZER opens, Virgil and Greg are six months into seventh grade and learning more about their inherited magical abilities—gifts they hide as closely guarded secrets since curious classmates keep watch with a mix of awe and contempt.

Five hundred miles north in wintry Maine, the boys’ nemesis, Mata, teaches unsuspecting students how to release their souls from their bodies to store them in custom freezers and conduct experiments. But in freeing his own soul, Mata’s has been trapped in a squirrel’s body. Can he escape and finally find a human body to inhabit? More important, does he still pose a threat to Virgil, Greg and their families?

When one of Mata’s students awakens inside her freezer, the boys find themselves on a quest to rescue other victims stranded in another dimension. Can Virgil and Greg save them in time? Will they have the power to shut down Mata’s wicked experiments forever?
