The Rights of Sonship (eBook Edition)

Understanding Your Authority, Power, and Responsibilities as the Firstborn Son of God

by Jerry Udoh, PhD

digital

Product description...

The journey into dominion is not instantaneous. Every believer is birthed into the household of God as a child, but not all advance into the maturity of sonship, and fewer still ascend into the consecrated mantle of the firstborn. To advance in the level of dominion requires that you also progress in the level of authority.

Every believer is born into the family of God as a child, but not every believer matures into sonship; only a few press into the mantle of the firstborn, and fewer still enter the authority of a friend of God. In fact, some still operate as servants in the very house they are supposed to rule and reign. Servants are all about tasks and obeying commands. Children enjoy the grace of their parents. Sons shoulder responsibility. The firstborn carries the inheritance and authority. But a friend of God rules in partnership with God. From the position of the firstborn, who is entrusted with the double portion (Deuteronomy 21:17) and charged with priestly and kingly functions, the dynamic changes. The culmination of this progression is friendship with God, the highest intimacy available to man. Jesus declared to His disciples, “I no longer call you servants, for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth; but I have called you friends.” Friendship elevates authority into a covenantal partnership, where God shares His secrets and entrusts His strategies. At this stage, authority flows not simply from obedience, identity, maturity, or inheritance, but from intimacy itself. Friends of God sit in the council chambers, carrying the privilege to legislate with Him, not just for Him, shaping realities on earth according to His hidden purposes. Each level of dominion demands the appropriate level of authority to accomplish; otherwise, achievement will remain in the realms of wishful thinking.
