When Private Hooch was assigned to the U.S. Army’s slackest outfit in the Central Highlands, he fit right in. Abandoned by the folks back home and the brass in command, Alpha Company fights only as much war as they have to: local Viet Cong elude them and North Vietnamese regulars ignore them. AWOL in Saigon, Hooch descends into the underworld of drug dealers and prostitutes until his smuggling marijuana out of Thailand attracts the notice of U. S. Customs Agent Michael Malevarian, on a crusade to staunch the invasion of lethal narcotics into Western Civilization; but first he must deal with corrupt police, CIA rogue elephants, and Chinatown mobsters—not to mention his drunken colleagues at the U. S. Embassy!

Richard Gangelhoff is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Minnetonka Senior High School, Minneapolis Community & Technical College, University of Minnesota (B. A. in World Literature), and Augsburg University (MFA in Creative Writing). He worked twelve years for Target Inc, HQ, ten years for BookSmart, three years at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and two years at the Walker Art Center.
