Since the world changes at such a rapid rate, persons who have developed a capacity for world-class learning are the ones who are best positioned for abundant success. The rapidity of change is illustrated in the dramatic pace technology becomes obsolete or the degree a job assignment changes in the time between accepting the position and first reporting for duty. Embracing world class learning is essential to success.

In this book are a series of disparate essays loosely organized into chapters of: Learning; Work; Communication; Decisions; Money; Self Government; and The Nature of Churches. A portion of these essays will be considered profound by some, and judged by others to be trivial or amateurish. However, each of these essays has the potential to alter an individual’s understanding, change their perspective, or generate a new idea. By perlustration of these essays it is possible, for example, to learn how to give the perfect gift, or to learn another way to understand economic upheavals.

This book has its beginnings in a previous book, Observations of the Passing Scene. Many of the essays here have been updated and carried forward from that book. Teamed with new essays, the previous essays now have additional meaning and new potential.

Beginning in rual Iowa, Edwin Mathisen has been on this planet for over eight decades.He graduated from the University of Iowa, worked for three large corporations before starting his ownconsulating company and provided leadership for three different churches. He was also an adjunct lecturer at two major universities. His rich personal experience is the foundation for the ideas offered here. Edwin has been married for over 60 years, he is the father of three, and grandfather of nine grandchildren. He is the author of three previous books: Observations of the Passing Scene, Meadowland Church, and Two Boys.
