One traumatic survivor’s journey of finding hope

In this personal memoir, Jacob shares his harrowing experiences and how he survived unimaginable battles and relentless trauma that shaped his journey through life in his childhood and adolescent years. From an early diagnosis that altered the course of his childhood to overcoming the challenges with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Expressive Language Disorder, his father’s military deployment, and the shattering blow of his parents’ divorce, Jacob narrates how he faced adversity with resilience. Jacob unveils how being diagnosed with Duncan’s Syndrome, undergoing a life-threatening transplant after his cancer relapse, losing a family member to cancer, and being a victim of relentless bullying drove him into an enormous sea of despair and an unending war with severe depression. Jacob Mundy is a nonfiction author, two-time cancer survivor, cancer/mental health advocate, and an Illinois native. Finding comfort through the power of storytelling in his own struggle with adversity at an early age, Jacob knew he wanted it to be a pivotal aspect of his life. Inspired by the life-changing experience, years later Jacob decided to share his own triumphant personal story through his debut memoir "Profound Light." He aspires to bring much-needed hope to those suffering in silence through this nonfiction work. Today, Jacob continues his journey into this adventure through additional nonfiction book projects and hopes to dive into the fiction world one day.  

Outside of his creative work, Jacob enjoys life to the fullest, including going to the movie theater and metal concerts frequently, exploring amusement parks, listening to music, interacting with nature, being surrounded by his beloved family and friends, and traveling to other states whenever possible. Moved by the loving unity shown during his cancer journey, Jacob helps bring miracles to current fighters by volunteering for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN). Jacob also participates in a St. Jude Life Study Program, giving back to the very hospital that gave him a second chance in life. His love for storytelling extends beyond his work, making him a passionate advocate and a testament to a life reclaimed from adversity.
