A story that transcends our secular understanding of romantic love…
In 1985, Andrew Leahy is the improbable leader of the Overseas Highwaymen, one of South Florida’s hottest tropical rock bands. When he gets an unexpected visit from Clare, the girl he fell in love with in college, Andrew discovers that he’s the only one who can see and talk to her. Clare explains how one of her restaurant customers predicted she was about to have a “transformative experience,” and she says her physical body is in a coma back in a South Amboy hospital. Their reunion is short-lived, however, when a mysterious fog consumes Clare’s form and she disappears. Accompanied by his friend and Key West psychic Robin, Andrew puts his rising music career on hold and returns to his native South Amboy, hoping to find Clare and see if he can help her. The next time Clare appears, she has a nugget of information from the spirit realm, which prompts her to ask Andrew to find her biological mother before the doctor ends life support. In a race against time, Andrew and Robin set out to fulfill Clare’s wish before it’s too late. Along the way, Andrew questions why he is the only person who can see Clare. Is his purpose merely to find Clare’s mother? Or is there another reason for Andrew and Clare’s soulful connection?
