Author Information...

After earning a BSEE, Joe Temple spent 39 years at IBM as a hardware design engineer. He worked in development, advanced technology, product engineering, new product introduction, electronic packaging, and marketing/sales technical support. Over 25 of his inventions were granted US patents. He led technical sales support teams, using relative performance methods to optimize workload placement and platform choices, and earned the position of IBM Distinguished Engineer. Since leaving IBM in 2013, Joe has continued to do consulting and research on performance, and he has been an adjunct professor in computer sciences at Coastal Carolina University. Joe lives with his wife Rae in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He passed the Coast Guard Captain’s license exam in 2013 but failed the physical— leaving him ample time to write Information Technology Performance.
