In early 2000, Marilou Ravanera Ares became a seeker, and reading spiritual, mystical, and esoteric books became her passion. In 2005, she wrote Book One, A Book for Everyone, which summarized in simple terms what she had read, experienced, and learned. Book One was written for her young kids to understand the valuable spiritual teachings on who we are, and it was illustrated by her nine-year-old daughter Nikita. Marilou was practicing law in the Philippines at the time. In 2013, she and her family migrated to the United States, and by 2014, Marilou had passed the New York bar exam. She also completed her Master of Laws (Sustainable International Development Program) at the University of Washington in 2016. She currently lives and practices Immigration Law in Seattle. Nikita Ares also finished her bachelor’s degree, majoring in Arts, and graduated cum laude at Cornish College of the Arts in 2017. She is now a professional artist, holds art shows in Seattle, and was featured in the Seattle Times and in other media outlets. Marilou wrote Book Two: A Book To Be True—the sequel to Book One, with vibrant paintings by Nikita—during the Covid pandemic-quarantine.
