I graduated from HS., in June 1965. Entered US Army on Jan. 18, 1966. Took basic training at Ft. Knox, AIT at Ft. Dix, NJ, Infantry OCS at Ft. Benning, GA. Graduated and Commissioned a 2Lt. on Feb. 21, 1967, at the age of 19. Went to Vietnam in Sept. 1967 and joined A Co., 1st Bn., 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds), 25th Inf. Div. (Tropic Lightning). I commanded 2 of the 3 Rifle Platoons, the Weapons Platoon and was the XO during my 6 months in the Wolfhounds. I was shot through the neck during the TET Offensive, 1968, and was transferred to the Lightning Replacement Training School at the end of March 1968. I left Vietnam on November 16, 1968.

In Sept. 1969, I began my university career at Central Michigan University, and in Dec. 1972, I received my BS in Science, with my Teaching Certificate. I also received an MA of Arts in Guidance and Counseling 3 years later. During my career I also received the equivalent of a second Master’s Degree, by earning another 30 graduate credit hours. In Aug. 1973 I began my teaching career and taught Business Education for 31 years in the Kearsley Community Schools, located just outside of Flint, Michigan, and retired at the end of the 2004 school year.
