Product description...

Remorse is the fourth volume revealing the author’s moral challenges faced during his thirteen-month tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Ben’s response to temptations fueled an accelerating struggle over his values, identity, and spiritual well-being. He was increasingly consumed by emotional turmoil and transformed from naïve innocence to self-doubt and alienated detachment. The stories juxtapose the author’s experiences ‘between the lines’ of letters to his new wife, fluctuating between self-censorship and unfiltered explosions. Ben’s correspondence dropped to fifteen letters in contrast to forty-eight sent in his first month, reflecting his withdrawal as he hoped to shield his wife from the truth of his behavior and progressively disturbed mental state. Read 4th Moon: Remorse to follow Ben as he stumbles through a minefield of ethical trials which undermines his strength and precipitates a metamorphosis of spirit.

Author Information...

Ben Thieu Long (pseudonym) is publishing his memoir to fulfill a commitment he made during his tour of duty in Vietnam, where he served as a US Army military policeman. Ben faced multiple temptations and moral contradictions, and an examination of his behavior led him to question his commitment to his values and faith. These experiences reshaped his perspective on courage, moral strength, and resilience; as he began to recognize lessons that could guide him positively through life’s challenges. Ben’s lesson is that although people sometimes didn’t select the best path to travel or make wise choices, they always can learn from experience in ways that help them achieve future success. These lessons provided the cornerstone for Ben’s effectiveness and resilience during his forty-year career in Human Resources. Ben successfully led organizational change and coached individuals to navigate difficult circumstances and rebound as stronger and healthier people.
