This story is based on Angel’s real-life experiences. Well…maybe, not the relationship to the little fox. But isn’t that a part of storytelling?

I have been adopted by Tracey and her family. Tracey’s parents feel that she is growing up to be a fine young lady and is now ready to have a best friend in a dog. Angel, that’s me, is now also a part of the ‘Girls Club’ which includes Tracey, Nancy Ann, and Sarah. We do everything together; I have even been trained whereas I can go to school with Tracey and everywhere else. We are attached at the hip. Tracey says I have every quality that she would want in a dog. I am very clever, intelligent, well-mannered, very social with humans, and dogs, and I love my balls, especially little red ones. I am a Toy Poodle. I have adventures of every kind; I find them everywhere with all the humans in my life. I also have them with other dogs and animals. This book is really about the first year of my life…but it is also, a hands-on book for any young person who has a dog coming into their life. It gives a better understanding of what to expect and how to take care of a new dog.

Long-time teacher and principal Dr. Lindalee Ausejo has always believed that storytelling is one of the best educational methods for teaching. Her stories encourage the young to listen while reinforcing everyday common sense, responsibility, and respect for others. Lindalee lives in El Cerrito, in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she has provided compassion and caring along with respect to inner-city students.
