Tillman’s poems dive into philosophical, theological, and realistic ways we suffer and encounter joy in this world. He invites his readers on a journey to freedom from the chains of bondage which so easily entangle us. Throughout Tillman's book, he shows his readers that they hold the power to set themselves free, and when they can't, someone by the name of Jesus can. Tillman's poems provoke self reflection and contemplation about life in ways that require humbling ourselves, so that we may learn to live, laugh, cry, and once again - dare I say - hope.

Trevor D. Tillman grew up in the bright and sunny San Diego. He loves to laugh and sing. Tillman's love language is quality time, so he loves to spend it with family and friends. He attends Point Loma Nazarene University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Christian Studies, aspiring to participate in unconventional ministry that serves the poor, unseen, and outcast. His other dreams include acting, songwriting, and singing. Tillman is a talented and recently published poet in the Tightfisted Scot Advisory Newsletter, directed by Wick Engel. His faith, college education, and personal experiences equipped him to write a book of poetry. As an educated black Christian man, he is following in the steps of many before him like Booker T. Washington, Langston Hughes, T.D Jakes, Tyler Perry, and many more. He hopes to be an inspiration and help pave the way for the ones to come after him.
