A family steeped in tradition; with the “changing of the seasons” there was always a celebration, the anticipation and preparations. Historical events are recalled, including the Revolutionary War and Civil War. The Putnam Town Farm and the 1955 Flood are remembered by those whose lives were affected. It covers a culture of farming, to the industrial revolution and how this affected the economy and dynamics of the family.

About the Author
Ruth Flagg lived in the Northeast Corner of Connecticut often referred to as the “Quiet Corner.” She lived there all her life with her husband Richard Flagg, together they raised 7 children in a large Victorian farm house on River Road. She and Richard purchased this home from her parents in the 1950’s. She was a “stay at home Mom” still remaining very active in her church when her children were small. She indulged and delighted her children in the mysteries of nature and encouraged creativity. Later in life serving on the Putnam Library Board for 3 years and the Aspinock Historical Society, serving as president twice. She was instrumental in the early stages of the Cady Cobb Cottage restoration project, as well as the Gertrude Warner Box Car Museum established in Putnam CT. She was an avid reader, story teller and creative writer. Ruth wrote a delightful series of Children’s Stories for her youngest daughter Nicole. Her writing chamber was not an office nor a study as she had neither - it was her heart. She wrote more than paragraphs she wrote emotions. This wonderful story was her most creative endeavor. She passed away in 2008, predeceased by her husband Richard 10 years earlier.
