Product description...

I returned home from a short fly fishing trip. My neighbor was in his driveway walking towards his mailbox. He observed me removing my fly rod tube, wet waders, and other gear from the back of my truck. “Been fishin’?” he asked as he passed my driveway. “Yes.” I replied. “Well, how was it?” he continued. “Great,” I responded, “it was a great day.” “Good, how many did you catch?” “None,” I said.

A Great Read! Tim’s humor and stories kindle a fire in one to read more, relive past adventures, and plan one’s next fly fishing journey. His outlook on fly fishing reveals the true meaning as to why so many fly fishermen are drawn to this way of life. – John Sappington, Professional Fishing Guide FLW Tour Cup Champion This book is of particular interest for any outdoor enthusiast, bringing back fond memories for older readers as well as teaching younger readers the way things used to be. It recalls stories of the author’s younger days fishing, hiking trails, and floating streams in a canoe with only a compass and a topo map to find his way. One can fondly follow the storyline, as much of it could be one’s own. Readers, who enjoy fishing, will find this book a great read. The author's reflections after each chapter add a great touch to this book. -Officer Dean Dickens, United States Forestry Service

Author Information...

With fly rod in hand, Tim Peters has traveled to diverse places. His experiences include angling whilst surrounded by the majestic beauty of Yellowstone National Park, the remote peacefulness of the Catskills, the clear streams of the Ozarks and the swift waters of the Great Smoky Mountains. He has ventured to Lake Miguel Aleman in northern Mexico and across the pond to the quiet, flowing rivers of central Ireland. From a very young age, Tim’s love for the outdoors has now led him to employ his talents as a fly fishing instructor and guide for a renowned nature park. A school teacher for over thirty years, he has been actively involved with youth inside and outside the classroom. Tim received his Divemaster certification in 2005 and began imparting his knowledge to inner-city youth in Indianapolis, Indiana. He developed and executed a program that incorporated coral reef ecology and allowed Junior High students to earn their SCUBA certification. The culmination of the program included traveling to the Florida Keys where the students worked alongside law enforcement and biologists applying their new skill set while removing debris from coral reefs. Other accomplishments include earning his Eagle Scout with three palms and becoming a Scoutmaster at the age of twenty-one. He also holds certification as a Hunter Safety Instructor in the state of Indiana. The highlight of his life is the role of loving husband for over forty years and raising two sons who have come to share his appreciation for fly fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. He is grandfather to the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts; all three Peters grandsons seek to follow in their father and grandfather’s footsteps streamside and hope one day to immerse themselves in the reflective practice of fly fishing. Tim resides in southwest Missouri, planning his next fly fishing adventure.
