For those who lived through it, the experience was one of fascination, blessed friendships and conflicting values. Looking back offers the opportunity to relive, cherish and understand a unique era. The pillars of society, both the good and the bad, lived under the 1950’s should not be forgotten. We may then preserve and reintroduce the good, while avoiding a repeat of the bad. Upon retiring from a career in both the public and private sectors, Rodger Potocki turned to writing about his home area from a historical and personal perspective. His first book, From the Inside, chronicles key political and economic issues. Lucky U, Lucky Us turns to a view of a distinctive decade in the city of Utica’s history.

Rodger resides in New Hartford, NY with wife Chris and their dynamic cat duo of Anwar SaCat and Other Cat. The book’s illustrations are creations of nationally celebrated painter and illustrator Bob Cimbalo. Both share their affection for Utica.
