Jacquel Tucker was born in the rural community of Higgins Land, Jamaica, and is the youngest in her family with eight siblings. After attending Westwood High School she started her first year at Brown’s Town Community College where she was awarded a full academic scholarship to study Restaurant and Hotel Management and Tourism at the University of Maine. Her experience in the hospitality industry spans over twenty-five years. She has worked for the Tourism Action Plan at the Jamaica Tourist Board Office and worked her way up in the US hotel industry from a Front Desk Agent to a Director of Sales and Marketing. In 2015 she founded her 501(c)3 non-profit, The Jamaica Project USA, and is on a mission to transform rural communities and schools in Jamaica.
