1,993 souls taken — 2,000 required
Someone—or something—is viciously assaulting young girls. Unlike those around her, Lyla Frazier is new to the rigid rules, the rationalizations, and hierarchy of Seioka life, and incapable of turning her back on the victims, the children. In spite of the horror, ‘The Fold’ refuses to sanction the case. It’s not Seioka business, they say. There are long-standing governances, rules, and practices that must be adhered to, they say. Risking her life, Lyla defies them all—even her husband, a celebrated warrior caught between his allegiance to the only way of life he has ever known and the only woman he has ever loved. The cat-and-mouse game she will play with the Yellow King, a self-proclaimed prophet, will test her resolve and rip her new marriage apart. Lyla would discover the Yellow King is not the master but the puppet of a malevolent entity on a direct course to achieve the one thing it has desired since the beginning of time. Unlike the prophet, this enemy seeks not fame or fortune—but to steal the souls and the flesh of the innocent to achieve its purpose. After a miserable failure costs the lives of others, Lyla is forced to accept that even with the Book of Bark, she is not powerful enough to conquer the strange Being. ‘The Fold’, under the auspices of the greater good, had taken her first love, her unborn child, and any hope of having children at all. But they were among the most powerful of her kind and so to defeat one enemy, she is forced to bargain with another. How far will she go to bring this unspeakable supernatural horror to an end? “From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required...” Luke 12:48 --- Note: *The Unseen* includes a couple of scenes that may be too graphic and disturbing for some to read.
