Texas Jewel is the story of a young woman who leaves Texas after experiencing betrayal and heartbreak in love, only to realize that she has made a mistake because she is too bound by her Texas roots and traditions. Upon the death of her Grandmother, Jewel finds second chances at both a new life in Texas and the reappearance of the former love that betrayed her. However, first Jewel must overcome the sinister forces that are trying to drive her away from the ranch as well as learn to trust again. She realizes she must assert herself and fight for what she wants. In the process she regains her own self worth. By overcoming the challenges and struggles that confront Jewel she becomes the confident Texas woman she always wanted to be.

Shirley Polk, a native Texan grew up in the small town of Schulenburg. During high school She worked at a newspaper office called The Schulenburg Sticker and dreamed of becoming a writer . She attended Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Later she went to Houston Community College and earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Busiess Management graduating with highest honors.Shirley has been married for 41years and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
