Product description...

A Story from the Timber and Turpentine Days in Southern Georgia

Southerners are historically great story tellers often drawing from their own lives to weave tales of sentiment, humor, drama, or sometimes even horror. They enjoy both the hearing and the telling of good stories. In the case of this book, Arvin F. Spell III grew up listening to his dad tell the family stories about life from the turn of the 19th into the 20th century. That period in southern Georgia was a time of great prosperity for his predecessors, but as with all families, high drama and heart-breaking sorrow were parts of those times. Mr. Spell, in recounting his fascinating and endearing family memories, shares the flavor and color of those days taking his readers back in time to another way of life.

Author Information...

Arvin F. Spell III was born and raised in rural South Georgia. After graduating from Mercer University, Mr. Spell taught school in southern Georgia several years before relocating to Atlanta, where he started a family and became a Certified Public Accountant, establishing his on CPA firm. He also pursued his love for fine antiques, restoring and furnishing an historic circa 1898 home near Atlanta with predominately Victorian and Empire Revival furnishings, followed by another somewhat smaller, but equally regal home. Now, semi-retired, Mr. Spell has time to write about his family memories for others to enjoy.
