For nine months, you serve there as remains are recovered, and it’s your job to find words for the grieving. Then there’s the excitement of the last 25 years when you stand before over 100,000 race fans as you give the invocation for the NASCAR race at Dover, Delaware. A life filled with triumph and tragedy. This is the story of Daniel R. Schafer, a redneck from the hills of western Pennsylvania with a call from God to take His Word to the most unique and unusual places.

Dan Schafer was born into a hardworking family of the ’50s. From the challenges of high school to his transformation in the United States Air Force, Rev. Dan received a unique call of God on his life that included parish ministry, law enforcement, and chaplaincy. His call would take him to the horror of Ground Zero, the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, and the sometimes brutal landscape of North Jersey.
