These poems and short stories were inspired by God either by direct struggles in life or situations we find ourselves going through that we really need help to find our way back to Christ. You will feel the joy, pain, sorrow and every other emotion that Jackie felt in each poem; her heart truly is in each one and as a Pastor’s wife these are personal feelings in her life. The short stories will bring to life the struggles we face as Christians trying to do our best in the world but the battles are so much more than we can fight on our own. We need help from God which sometimes comes in the form of our sister or brother in Christ. This is the second book Debbie has published, the first was A View from the Middle, a biography of her life giving praise to the Lord for her struggles and blessings. Hand in Hand is poems written by her mother, Helen C. “Jackie” Turner over several years during her life as a Preacher’s wife. You will feel Jackie’s emotions in each poem whether joy or tears; they will bless your heart. Jackie is a blessing with her singing and guitar playing in her church and community. The short stories are written by Debbie and show how this world can attack a Christian and pull them from the glory road; stealing their joy and the struggles to get back to Christ. They both live in the small community of Bassett, Virginia. Jackie has two other children, Doug and Amy. Jackie’s husband, Rev. Sonny Turner, founded and preached at Community Baptist Church for twelve years even with his heart disease. His work for the Lord is still in hearts today. He passed away May 15, 1999 and is missed by his family and friends each day.
