A Story Of Love & Evolution
Anyone who wonders what the “sixties” era in the United States was all about will, at least, know one story after reading this book. This tale is told through the poetic voice of Sylver Smith who, after surviving a near-fatal accident, examines her life to find it lacking—without purpose. At twenty-eight, Sylvi is a mother, a career woman, and a lost soul who looks for life’s answers in the next party, or the next drink, or the next many drinks until she blacks out and keeps on partying—until the car wreck. Then her jazz musician friend blows into town from New York and turns her on to pot and peyote. Her psyche awakens to the oneness of all sentient beings and the power of love in the universe. Her practical self awakens to the reality of the horror of the unjust Vietnam War.
Through her conscious choice to evolve, open her heart, and become part of the peaceful revolution, she opens her door to a diverse group of people. Among them, McKenzie Raintree, called Z, a pot dealer from Acapulco. The common thread binding Sylvi and Z is their heart for a revolution to free oppressed people from a world system of greed and exploitation. Inspired by Gandhi, she envisions non-violent change. Inspired by Ché, he sees violent overthrow as the only option. A compelling love draws them together, but their commitments to differing ideologies cause tension between them. Despite their differences, they pronounce themselves a union under God without imagining where that union might take them. What happens when legal entanglements separate her from her two young daughters and imprisonment looms in hers and Z’s futures? Can her devotion to the true meaning of love and peace carry her through the dangers of the life she’s chosen?

Eleanor B.Taylor, perhaps a rebel from birth, writes her first novel, Wet My Mouth With Honey, from her own experience. She writes because someone has to tell the “other” stories from the “sixties.” The ones about sincerely believing that love can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that can.
Eleanor lives in Fort Davis, Texas, with the love of her life Greg Taylor (a radical gardener). She is a member of Texas Mountain Trail Writers, Story Circle Network, Writers League of Texas, and Veterans for Peace. She also serves as a board member of Living Ubuntu, a non-profit trauma recovery organization.
