Born on January 15, 1942 in Midnapore of Bengal, India Sankari Prasad Sarkar had his degree in Science and later in Metallurgical Engineering. He was born at a time when World War II was in full fury and an all-out struggle for Indian independence was going on. He had been engaged in the production of defense equipments, in industry as a consultant and later with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) till his retirement as Senior Deputy General Manager.
