Life-changing week for a deaf man at Gallaudet!

There is a monumental shift in how deaf people are seen and heard as a result of Deaf President Now in 1988 at Gallaudet University. At the same time, Theodore “Teddy” Fitzgerald undergoes a personal transformation during his experience as a student during DPN. He battles personal demons and fights for a romantic interest at the same time.

Russell Kane is the author of Fighting the Long Sorrow. He has a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and a master’s in deaf education from Gallaudet University. Mr. Kane has immersed himself in deaf culture and was transformed by his Deaf President Now (DPN) experience. He has served as a consultant for organizations, individuals, and corporations because of his expertise as an educator. He now resides in New York and teaches ASL full-time at a community college.
