Wanted: The Eyes Have It!

The faces, especially the eyes that look back at me, in the photos on these wanted posters hold magnificent stories. They are people who had mothers, fathers, families, those they loved, and some had those who loved them. There were childhoods, picnics, long workdays, and many different adventures. They aren’t horrible people that I see, but ones who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

These “wanted” suspects’ eyes captivate me.

What do you see when you peer into someone’s eyes? Are these severe ruthless criminals, or are they people just like you and me?

Velda Arnaud was born and raised in southwestern Oregon. Her degrees in Instructional Technology, Mathematics, and German come from the University of Oregon, and she spent one year at the Universität Tübingen in Germany. She enjoys collecting books, photos, and ephemera, which inspired this book. Wanted: The Eyes Have It is the second in a series of books being worked on about wanted posters, the suspects in them, and lawmen who often risked their lives to apprehend the men described in their Wanted Posters, Postcards, and Circulars. This book is a tribute to those people whose photos were captured by the lawmen.
