Michael G. Hitch was born in Salisbury, Maryland in 1959, 300 years after his 7x great-grandfather Adam Hitch. Even with the large span of time, Mr. Hitch was born less than five (5) miles from where Adam Hitch held his vast 2,000+ acre estate from the 1680s until his death in 1731. The area that is part of modern-day Wicomico County, Maryland was then contained within old Somerset County that was formed in 1666 and included all or portions of current-day Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties in Maryland and a portion of Sussex County, Delaware. Mr. Hitch acquired his love for history having grown up a son of a history teacher and combined this love with a desire to seek out his family roots.
