Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year Details
Rules and Eligibility
(in other words, here is how the Outskirts Press "Best Book of the Year" is determined):
Every year we hand-select 2%-5% of the best books we published within the past year (as determined by our production and marketing departments along with our executive staff) for official nomination to the Colorado Independent Publishers Association EVVY Awards. Your book must receive an Official Outskirts Press EVVY Nomination from us and you must accept the nomination, which includes the EVVY Nomination entry fee, the cost of the judges' copies for your book, and the shipping/handling fee to complete your application on your behalf.
In addition to being a well-written book, Official Outskirts Press EVVY Award Nominations must be published under our One-Click, Ultimate or Full-Color packages and must be in English. Typically, EVVY Nominees are copyedited and feature custom cover designs.
Your book must win an EVVY Award to be considered a Best Book of the Year contender. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place EVVY Awards are awarded in a number of different categories, along with merit award-winners. EVVY-winning books are announced at the end of each summer during the Colorado Independent Publishers Association Awards Banquet in Denver.
From among all the EVVY-winning Outskirts Press books, 3 will be chosen by Outskirts Press to be the finalists. These choices are final. All three finalist books will receive promotion in our newsletters and on our social networks, including links to the respective author webpages, book video trailers (if any), ebook or Kindle editions (if any), and any other marketing efforts the three authors have put into place. Award-winning authors realize that marketing and promotion are a vital piece of success.
The ultimate Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year Award will be determined by the readers of SelfPublishingNews.com blog in an open, public vote. Yes, that means the three finalists hold their own fate in their hands. The Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year Award is meant to demonstrate to agents, editors, and publishers that the author has the talent to excel at writing an award winning book and the tenacity to excel at marketing it. Being a finalist means you have the talent. Do you have the marketing tenacity to get the most votes for YOUR book in an open, public vote? Leverage your Twitter and Facebook accounts; email everyone you know and ask them to vote for your book. The voting will determine the most talented writer with the best author platform.

I felt that I was in the hands of a pro...
From the beginning, and throughout the process of publishing my first book, I felt that I was in the hands of a pro. Dana always took the time to answer my questions in detail and swiftly, and if she didn't have 100% confidence, she researched the question and got back to me. I was very pleased with her and I am also thankful that I was paired with her as an Author Rep.

I have been very pleased with the way OP helped...
I have been very pleased with the way OP helped and handled the publishing of both my books. Tina was my first great agent and Dana continued that care and concern. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to all who are now asking "How can I get published? Please keep up the good work and the integrity you have with your company. May God bless you all for blessing your clients the way you do!

Her guidance helped turn my dream into a reality…
The one-on-one with Lisa was great. Especially the phone call picking out styles, font, cover template etc. She even got a vote on the color. I so wanted to have my daughter's painting as the art work on the cover and she gave me a way to do that. Her guidance helped turn my dream into a reality and sometimes it is still hard to believe until I look at my book. Thank you.
