Author Information...

Jan Dahlin Geiger, CFP, MBAJan Dahlin Geiger, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, began her financial planning career in 1987, after more than ten years in corporate banking and a three-year stint as an officer in the United States Navy. She has an undergraduate degree in psychology and an MBA in finance and accounting. At the age of twenty four, Jan decided that she was going to be rich one day by following the simple principles she had learned from her mother: stay out of debt, save at least 10% of your income, have adequate insurance, give some away to those less fortunate, and track your spending. After reading everything she could get her hands on about investing money, and real-world, hands-on trial and error, she quickly learned what works and what doesn’t work in investing money wisely. This gave Jan the courage to leave the safety of a vice president’s position with the private banking division of Citicorp and enter the world of professional financial planning. In 2003, Jan began teaching seminars on money basics to the adult children of her clients. The seminars quickly spread to include all those who had an interest in the topic. Many of the seminar participants urged Jan to write this book to bring her simple, easy-to-understand message to a wider audience. The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Reader’s Digest, Money Magazine, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and a host of other publications have interviewed Jan for her financial expertise. She is the money expert on “Love and Money” for the Wedding Television Network, and a frequent guest on radio and TV. She has served on the Atlanta chapter Board of Directors of both the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Jan lives in Atlanta with her husband, Jerry Geiger, and is the mother of two. To reach the author or to buy recordings of her live seminars, go to www.GetYourAssetsInGear.com.
