Product description...

It was a meteoric ascension into the ranks of the top professional bull riders in the world for young Billy Ray Robbins. Following the death of his father in a military helicopter accident, Billy Ray and his mother move to Texas, where he is introduced to the sport of bull riding. Being the holder of a black belt in karate, he utilizes his amazing athletic ability to quickly excel in the sport. On a journey in which living on the edge becomes a normal way of life, Billy Ray easily breezes through the ranks of high school and amateur bull riding and soon finds himself in the middle of a world title run during his rookie year. He teams up with his girl friend Jennifer, the daughter of one of the greatest bull riders to ever pull a rope, and the Homer Lee, the obnoxious dog who rides in the back of his pickup truck, weather permitting. They burn up the highways, competing simultaneously in PBR (Professional Bull Riders) and PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) events across the country, living fast, staring danger and death in the face and taunting it on a daily basis. Johnny Rardon, Jennifer’s father, is likely the only person with enough influence on Billy Ray to pull in the reins long enough to give pause to caution, but his intense sense of fair play may preclude him from doing so. Together, they weather all that the storms of life can throw at them, until they run into the ultimate storm, the one that challenges everything they stand for, including their right to stay alive. In the aftermath of the disaster, Billy Ray must do some serious soul-searching as he embarks upon a walk-about, desperately seeking some sign that he is still meant to ride bulls. He suspects that he is on some kind of collision course with a notorious bull called Baby Axe, who was raised by Jennifer’s father, but he’s not sure he has the desire anymore to continue. Of one thing he is certain, if he is to continue on his course to a world title, that path will surely lead through the Baby Axe, and Billy Ray isn’t at all sure he would survive the ride. Follow the exploits and adventures of Texas cowboy Billy Ray Robbins as he leaves his family, friends, and loved ones behind to wander through the rugged Wyoming wilderness, where he battles his demons and searches for the desire and willpower to continue upon his world-title quest.
