Kenneth Ashton  Illustrations by Shelley Ashton-BriggsKenneth Ashton is a retired middle school English teacher. He has spent thirty-five years as a classroom teacher with children ages eleven through thirteen. He holds a masters degree in education and became interested in legend and mystery, when he recognized the eagerness of his students to read this genre. He was also successful as a director of many student theatrical productions throughout his tenure. Many of the incidents in “Gale’s Gold Ring” come from true life events relayed to him by his wife, Gale. The setting for Gale Merryweather’s adventures come from his wife’s childhood memories of Newport, Rhode Island. “I can often remember telling my wife. Someday I just might write a book about all these stories.”
