Ed PolasekThe career of this author covers several decades of e'clat experience in a wide variety of total loss control situations and environments.



The author served over 20 years of dedicated service in the United States Air Force. During this period, his efforts produced unpredented cost reductions in high hazard locations where the Air Force could potently experience severe and extreme losses. His consistent achievements in prolonging lives and reducing expenses earned recognition and awards from foreign officials. The author completed comprehensive training as a Crime Scene Investigator at the Military Police School (Camp Gordon, Georgia) as well as the advanced Industrial Safety Officers Course at AFC Headquarters (Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio). He became a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and as a Emeritus member.



In 1970, the author started his civilian career with Anderson Clayton and Company (ACCO), the largest non-energy related corporation in the state of Texas. They quickly promoted him to serve as the ACCO Headquarters, Director of Safety. During this period, the author guided the organization and it's subsidiaries to the best Loss Control records ever achived in their history. In 1975, the author earned the status of a Certified Safety Professional, he earning this coveted designation by extensive additional training and testing. This served to greatly extend his knowledge and skills into new areas and occupations. Under the training and guidance of the Texas Railroad Commission and the Fire School, located at Texas A&M University, the author qualified as an LP Gas firefighting instructor. He spent time training Volunteer Fire Departments serving in the eleven most western states. Using special mobile equipment, he was able to provide hands-on conditions as they would face in actual LP Gas fires. The author, is listed in the 1990-1991 issue of the Who's Who in the Safety Profession, filed in the Smithsonian Institution located in Washington D.C. He completed training required of all Federal OSHA inspecors and also qualified as a FEMA Public Relations Officer. The author served with FEMA in this capacity during several national disasters.
