In the fourth installment of the Charlie Palmer Series, Federal Wildlife Officer Charlie Palmer has a lot on his plate. The Florida refuge is still recovering from the category five hurricane that completely redesigned the landscape of the entire coast. He is operating without his longtime partner, Billy DeVore, who has been promoted to regional disaster coordinator, and he is training two rookie game wardens. When an elderly neighbor, who claims to be a descendant of Florida’s original people, says that he is being stalked by a monster straight out of Native American legends, Charlie knows he has to help. Meanwhile, his wife, Dr. Miranda Palmer, has a patient who is obviously a victim of domestic abuse. In an effort to assist her patient, Miranda angers the abusive husband, who swears revenge. Charlie has to leave the two rookie wardens on their own for a few days while he assists his neighbor, and as they struggle to find their way, Charlie discovers that the Wacahoota Wampus might be real!
