Book Details

Sex! Sex! ... and more Sex! It confronts you everywhere.

Did you ever notice—what is the first question that is usually asked when a baby is born—and where all eyes are conveniently focused in trying to answer that simple (but important) question? God has equipped us with sexual organs, and the corresponding feelings, desires, urges and drives, but we have not been programmed like an expensive Dell computer, left to run like a factory machine or put on heat like un-intelligent, spirit-less wild animals, without moral consciences or spiritual illumination. It is full time for the Body of Christ to wake up and start facing the sexual issues in our midst, starting with our own personal lives. Our moral grid must not be set by Hollywood, the secular music industry or the internet web sites, but instead by God’s unchanging Word, as inspired by his Holy Spirit.

Book Excerpt

Each sane, sober human being has the God-ordained responsibility to make sensible decisions regarding sexual issues. It is better to refrain from taking that lustful second look and from starting that impulsive, illegitimate relationship than to realize shortly thereafter … that you lack both the power and the will to stop the destructive avalanche which follows. Some ministers and church leaders refuse to venture into these dangerous waters because they are fully conscious of their own checkered past, unresolved sexual issues and present, personal struggles. They have, somehow, forgotten that the grace of God and the life-transforming work of the Holy Spirit also apply to issues of sexual sin, disorientation and brokenness. It must also be emphasized that God did not create sexual intercourse to be performed as a technical, gymnastic showpiece nor as an act of manipulation, intimidation or exploitation, but rather as an expression of genuine love and commitment between two happily married adults of opposite gender (male and female). When sex is being used for the wrong purposes, even in the marriage bed, it sets the stage for a chain reaction of numerous, negative side effects. There is an urgent need for the Body of Christ to demonstrate to our morally ambiguous and disintegrating world … that we are indeed God’s holy temple. We may need to rediscover the meaning of concepts such as purity, holiness, consecration, sanctification, fidelity and integrity as we allow the Holy Spirit to cleanse, indwell, empower and guide us; in keeping with biblical standards. As we reach out a helping hand to other mortal human beings; whether repentant sex-slaves, guilt-ridden fornicators or traumatized victims of sexual abuse, it is essential that we are properly informed and empowered if we intend to access genuine, mutually-fulfilling and sustainable solutions. We should, therefore, seek to understand the various dimensions of human sexuality and all their possible linkages with sexual immorality; including the biological, medical, ethical, legal, emotional, psychological, sociological, spiritual and demonic factors.

About the Author

Donald K. Stewart (D.Min., D.M.E.)

Donald K. Stewart serves as a Pastor at the Portmore Lane Covenant Community Church in Jamaica. He presently holds two doctoral degrees and is currently pursuing a third (Ph.D. in Theology, U.W.I.), with a Thesis on: “The Christian Church as an Agent of Sexual Purity in a Pluralistic Society.” During his teens, and much of his young-adult years, he had major struggles with sexual issues, and has since resolved to develop in his understanding and capacity to correctly guide those now experiencing sexual turmoil, confusion, brokenness or addictions. After 24 years in full time Christian ministry, he is even more convinced than ever before that sexual purity is an endangered phenomenon, which must be intelligently guarded, purposefully restored and deliberately promoted. He is the author of seven provocative books, including the much sought after: What They Didn’t Tell Us About Masturbation: Facing the Facts. Donald has been married to Andrea (Shepherd) since April 1984, and together they have three lovely daughters; D’Anne-Kay, Nicole, and Kristi-Lee.
