WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL ABOUT MASTURBATION...ANYWAY?

“What They Didn’t Tell Us About Masturbation” contends that there is much more to this delicate, sensitive subject than is usually presented in the mass media . . . and so confidently articulated by our enlightened, broad-minded “professionals”.

Our Church leaders and Christian educators are often divided on this controversial subject and so either provide conflicting, confusing theories or often choose to remain conveniently silent . . . as though by ignoring this reality, it will somehow, mysteriously disappear from our lives.

One of the greatest stumbling blocks in our present, permissive, promiscuous world is that we often function with a shortsightedness that prevents us from seeing beyond the natural realm. We are, therefore, tempted like Lot’s wife in Genesis 19:26 or the Rich Fool in Luke 12:15-21 to keep focusing on the perishable pleasures of this world instead of pursuing those things of lasting value, which have no expiry date.

How you respond to truth, of whatever kind, will definitely reveal the condition of your heart, the degree of your integrity and the authenticity of your convictions. You could discretely close the covers of this book and resort to “what they told you about masturbation”, and no one would ever know that you had read this little book.

The verdict is definitely yours.

Book Excerpt

The easiest response to make to what appears as an overwhelming vote of confidence, in favor of masturbation, is to yield… concluding like so many others, that this activity must be God-ordained since multitudes are doing it, and high-level personnel are giving it their maximum endorsement.

We must, however, be reminded that the multitudes are not always correct, and that the minds of countless good, intelligent human beings are still being blinded by “the god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Moral issues are not determined by the votes of finite, vulnerable human beings, but rather by the principles of God’s unshakeable Word. We must, therefore, not be seduced into thinking that an impure habit will evolve into a moral activity, simply because “everybody is doing it”.

Masturbation, like potassium cyanide, needs to be speedily identified and militantly addressed, as decisively as possible, before the destructive consequences set in. It needs to be diagnosed, not as a healthy, amoral, therapeutic activity, but as an addictive, sinful practice that blocks the life flow from our spiritual source, resulting in a series of crippling, malignant diseases.

Let us also not forget that it was just the one little sin of a couple (Adam and Eve), somewhere in a private garden called Eden, that has caused all of humanity ever since, to be born in sin and shaped by iniquity. One individual’s private sin certainly has a strange way of affecting communities, nations and even generations.

About the Author

Donald K. Stewart (D.Min., D.M.E.)

Donald Karl Stewart (Pastor at the Portmore Lane Covenant Community Church in Jamaica) was born in 1956, to devoted Anglican parents, Henry and Esmie Stewart who provided for him a solid religious foundation, a stable family life and a diverse social environment that were conducive to both exploration and introspection.

Having been born again in 1976, with Charismatic connections and evangelistic zeal, he was eventually given marching orders by his liberal, ecumenical Priest, from St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church (99 Molynes Road) in the Summer of 1979.

During his teens, and much of his young-adult years, he had major struggles with sexual issues, and has since resolved to develop in his understanding and competence in order to correctly guide those now experiencing sexual turmoil, confusion, brokenness or addictions.

After 23 years in full time Christian ministry, he is even more convinced than ever before that sexual purity is an endangered phenomenon, which must be intelligently guarded, purposefully restored and deliberately promoted.

Donald continues to serve the Body of Christ through his commitment to evangelism, counseling, teaching, camping and deliverance ministries.

He presently holds two doctoral degrees and is currently pursuing a third (Ph.D. in Theology, U.W.I.), with a Thesis on “The Christian Church as an Agent of Sexual Purity in a Pluralistic Society”.

Donald has been married to Andrea (Shepherd) since April 1984, and together they have three lovely daughters; D’Anne-Kay, Nicole’ and Kristi-Lee.

With the motto; “Respect for All, Fear for None”, he is motivated by; “The Love of God”, and sees as his lifelong mission to; “Evangelize, Deliver and Educate God’s People, Towards Personal and National Transformation”.
