Book Excerpt

Life changed after Lennon. In fact, for me, it changed the minute I heard about his death. I was lying in bed, awake, hung over, and wondering who the hell was lying next to me and how he’d gotten there. The radio alarm kicked on and I cursed myself for not remembering to shut it off before going to the club the night before. I reached over to press the off button and my arm stopped in mid-air. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The announcer said that John Lennon had been shot and killed outside the Dakota in New York City.
I laid there stunned. John Lennon was dead? That just wasn’t possible. John Lennon couldn’t die. He was, in a word, immortal.
