Randy noted, "That goes against the grain. Are you having a change of heart toward the Vietnamese?” “Not yet, but I don’t hate them, either. I want to learn something besides what our Drill Sergeants taught us.” Randy cautioned, “Open-mindedness isn’t encouraged in the military.” Ben insisted, "I'm holding my judgment of the Mice until I've had more time to see them in action." Freddie said, “That’s the decent thing to do. Too bad more people aren’t as open-minded.” Ben stretched out on his bunk. I should take more time before jumping to conclusions about these Vietnamese. I suppose they're just like us, not wanting to be judged or hated just because they're different. Freddie's right about respect being a fundamental human right.
