WHEN GOD DOES IT... Adam Found Eve: Covenant Through The Leading Of GOD, The Father
Once God had placed Adam in this garden called ‘Delight’, and prepared him to receive and purposefully name his helpmeet, He successfully separated them. God skillfully removed one of the ribs that He had originally given Adam. Adam and his wife were already together, but because she was hidden within him, Adam was physically alone. Scripture doesn’t reveal to us when God awakened Adam from his deep sleep; but it does imply that God did not intend for Adam to be cognizant of the separation.
It was after this mysterious separation that God initiated the process of designing the gift that He had ordained for Adam. “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.” (Verses 21-22) Although she was not fully developed, Adam’s helpmeet had been with him all along. When God formed Adam, He also created his helpmeet. She was created as his rib, a part of him that helped to define his shape while at the same time provided protection to other hidden parts of him that were vulnerable yet vital. God had to put Adam into a deep sleep to bring out of him the part of himself that he needed to be revealed so that he could be complete and walk in balance. Until God brought her forth, Adam had the benefit of having her present, but not the full benefit of the gifts and talents that she possessed that would complete him.
“And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” (Verse 23) Adam immediately did for his helpmeet what he’d done for every animal that God had presented to him: He called her. It is quite fascinating that Adam instantly returned to the last thing he had done before God instituted his season of rest. His ‘calling’ practice paid off and Adam made the declaration of his helpmeet’s true identity without the benefit of an introduction or any dialogue whatsoever from the God Who designed her. Adam immediately recognized that what had been on the inside of him was now fully manifested on the outside of him. He had never seen her as one of his ribs. He was not aware of their separation. He had no information regarding her making process. Despite all of this, without any delay or hesitation, he revealed his knowledge of where she’d come from.
