As a kid growing up in the Midwest my dad took me hunting. It started off with pheasant, squirrel and rabbit but later turned to deer. Instead of sports and ballgames for us our bonding time was in the woods. Even though we were hunting it didn’t really matter if we got anything because it was just being in the outdoors away from all the chaos that was very meditative. When I first started hunting it was with a shotgun but as time when on I also became proficient in archery and black powder musket and I now have my CCW permit from 3 different states. In the mid-80s I started a security job which then led into working for another firm for loss prevention at multiple department stores. At the same time I was also working for the forest preserve district as a sworn officer and then gravitated to another police department in the late-80s as a police officer as well. I’ve been in and out of martial arts since I was 15 and also owned a martial arts school in California in the late 90s and early 2000s. I’ve also put myself through EMT certification as well as rescue diver certification. This book that you’re reading “Beginners Guide to Gun Ownership” is actually the 4th book I’ve written to help people try to do things more effectively, efficiently, and safely.
