Book Details

When Dan Freeman, a native Liberian, moved from his small hometown to attend school at the prestigious Cape Palmus High School in Harper City, little did he know that he would one day become entangled in an intricate web of racism, sex, infidelity, politics, deceit, voodoo, and even murder. But when his best friend, Mo, a talented and popular young musician, goes missing, Dan soon finds himself in the center of the search to find him—and to find those responsible for his disappearance. Set against the backdrop of the real-world ritualistic killings that captivated Liberians in the 1970s, Behind Devil’s Rock takes readers on a journey that pits native Liberians against elite Americo-Liberians, corrupt politicians against well-intentioned locals, and progressives against traditionalists. It is a story of good against evil—and a race against time as Dan rushes to save his friend’s life.
