Ronald G. Actis is a Management graduate of the University of Illinois. He has 30 years of experience in manufacturing management, labor relations, organizational development, public relations, public affairs, media relations, marketing communications and communications management at General Motors. He left GM in 1992 as Group Director of Communications and Public Affairs of the former GM Delphi Automotive Components Group and joined Dow Corning Corporation as Director of External Communications.For the past 16 years, he has been President of Actis Consulting, a change management company which helps management and employees work more effectively together. He is also the author of MANAGEMENT'S LAST FRONTIER: A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM TO FOCUS AND SUSTAIN A CULTURE OF ACHIEVEMENT. The book describes his employee/management internal communication process, Synchronous Communication, which became General Motor's worldwide communication model.
Actis is an accredited Public Relations Consultant by the Public Relations Society of America and a former adjunct instructor of Management and Business at Michigan’s Saginaw Valley State University.His accomplishments have been cited in such publications as the Public Relations Journal, Behavior in Organizations: Understanding and Managing the Human Side of Work and the U.S. Congressional Record. His awards include recognition from the International Association of Business Communicators, Community Relations Institute, Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Advisory Board and Black Community Leadership Group along with numerous citations from a variety of civic and charitable organizations.
Actis established HARMONI (Human Alliances and Relationships Motivate Organizations, Neighborhoods and Individuals) in 1994 to help employees and management in corporations, schools, municipalities and non-profit organizations come together in a culture of communications, collaboration and achievement. He also established the Center for Racial and Ethnic HARMONI in 1994 which facilitates discussions and actions by people in the community to bridge the gap between racism and social harmony.
