When not writing onward into his tetralogy turned quintology or building model railroads, Kurt Paul Smith Hotelling is, among many skills, a playwright, professional musician, educator, film historian, and Bandmaster teaching Native American students on the Qualla Boundary. A double alumnus from the North Carolina School of the Arts, he has been writing classical fantasy for well over 40 years. Kurt is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who Among American Educators. He resides in a stone eyrie atop a mountain in Western North Carolina along with his gypsy wife (who creates intricate and celebrated beaded jewelry and artwork), one indulging Calico cat, a rescued and slightly confused black cat, an industrious and charming terrier, and uncounted mischievous yet helpful faeries. His musical daughters are out in the Bigger World, one a successful Doctor of Physical Therapy out west, the other finding her way.

A VANISHED MYSTIC BROTHERHOOD, A HAUNTED ANCIENT PALACE, TWO FAINT WHISPERS: ONE A PLEA FOR HELP, THE OTHER A THREAT
The Crown Prince seeks answers to an archaic phrase; Kluff’s powersword, Infinity, resonates mysteriously; something distant and secret awakens. Moons earlier across the ocean, the young King is crowned amidst veiled intrigue for the throne while a Half-Elf sparks a quest for clues to the nearly forgotten Swordsmen of the Freethinkers and their secret stronghold somewhere in the wilderness of the Blackface Mountains, perhaps within a haunted, ancient palace. Forbidden sorcery clashes with rare magicks and mystic powers in a struggle for supremacy. THORNS OF THE CROWN presents a new tapestry, enmeshed with events and persons described in A BRIDGE OF DOOM, unfolding in a new direction, expanding the tales and histories of FE’eck spinning under a double star.
