He is the author of over 300 scientific publications, 400 environmental reports, author or co-author of 4 books, and several chapters in books. He currently lives in a solar-based straw bale house on top of a hill on his 640-acre Horned Lizard Ranch, south of Wikieup, Arizona. Martha A. Brattstrom, Deceased, 2009, was a junior high science teacher for forty years, she co-authored 2 books with her husband, Bayard, as well as several articles on teaching and wrote several district-wide curricula. Mary E. Shipman is a writer, artist, and research assistant at Horned Lizard Ranch. She lives in Signal, Arizona. Kathleen A. McLaughlin is a truck driver, pilot, equestrian, author, artist, and cartoonist. She lives in La Mesa, California.
