Paula Scanland was born in Indiana and attended college in Colorado. She fell in love with the Colorado Mountains and after graduation made Denver her permanent home. The original vision of using her BA in English to become a teacher and author was derailed by her first job as a bank teller. Scanland’s forty-year career path took her instead through various accounting and financial jobs, and the acquisition of a Masters Degree in Finance. Her corporate experience includes the oil and gas industry, investment firms, software development, and working with national speaker and comedian Karyn Ruth White. After the sudden loss of her husband to amyloidosis in 2005 she moved to a small town in the Colorado Mountains where she was inspired to begin writing. The writer’s first novel, A Suffering Heart, was published in 2012.
