The poetry in Dancing with Grandfather is not about one person. It is not about his struggles with the pitfalls, lessons, and surprises in life. Nor is it about personal observations of the magnitude and minimums of living or the beauty seen in creation and the creative process of living. We are not one person. Each person is the composite of thousands of ancestors who have contributed to their DNA. Every person is the living result of the environment in which they grow and react. A person knows history not taught in school and has skills not learned. They respond to choices and decisions made each day not as one individual, but as their own personal survival team at work. Poetry is one action in our life adventure that allows us to release frustrations, return to calmness from stress, examine the avenues only the mind can travel, and strengthen our connection to each other. The Creator is in us, is of us, and is connecting all in the universe. What the author experiences and writes is what all experience. We are not here to learn.
