About the Author

Norma Esperanzate-Buenafe

Norma Esperanzate Buenafe, “Norms” to her friends, loves to eat vegetables. Norms has described eating vegetables in a meal as tasty, even sweet. Such was her experience growing up as a child in the Philippines. As she learned more about the health value of her food, this validated even more, her love of eating vegetables. She lives and shares her love for such healthy foods at home. In fact, this book is a result of her efforts to have her family share this passion. Getting picky sons to appreciate eating vegetables has proven to be a challenge for this mother of two boys. Even guests who have visited the family call Norms, ‘the vegetable patrol.’ This book describes in a whimsical way how she is able to face up to this and other challenges in her hopes to instill enjoyable vegetable eating experiences for everybody, even to the growing health conscious community. Norms is a credentialed elementary teacher who brings her passion for healthy foods to her classroom. She has been married for 22 years, to Mark, a United Methodist Pastor. They live in the beautiful, coastal community of Marina, California, with their two adorable and energetic boys, Marick and Mahal. Norms helps out in community activities, and is active in different organizations, between her teaching and mothering roles. Of the many hats she wears, being a Mom is her favorite one.
